Speaking to Business Insider, a representative from Blizzard Entertainment said that cross-play is, "a question of when, not if." It's important to note that this is not an official announcement, nor is the PC version of the game mentioned in the original article.
“While we love the idea of bringing our players together across platforms, we do not have any plans to implement cross-platform gameplay for Diablo at this time.”
